This game is intended to be used as an educational tool to allow players to explore concepts about the prevention and transmission of diseases caused by different coronaviruses that affect humans and animals.

Book available in several other European languages (Portuguese (original), English, French, Spanish, Italian, Serbo-Croatian and German), available at Zenodo, which translations were funded by COST Action CA17127 EuroScitizen .

INIAV researchers receive Merit Award from Casa das Ciências

The book “Coronavirus of Animals and Man”, and the game “BEAT Corona”, edited by INIAV , received, on the 14th of December, the Prize of Merit for the best educational resource of 2022 from Casa das Ciências.
The award ceremony took place at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, coordinated by the President of the Organizing Committee of the Casa das Ciências Meetings, Professor Manuel Luís da Silva Pinto.
These two resources were designed by researchers from the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária , the Directorate General for Food and Veterinary Medicine, the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Dr Ricardo Jorge and the Harrogate Hospital in Leeds, UK.

GAME PREAMBLE
This game intends to constitute an educational tool that allows exploring concepts about the prevention and transmission of diseases caused by coronaviruses that affect humans and animals. Although this activity was conceived and developed for entertainment and leisure, it is not intended to trivialize, devalue or disrespect the impact that COVID-19 has had on the lives of so many people across the planet. Rather, its aim is to increase understanding and reinforce actions and behaviors that prevent the spread of the disease.
Target Audience: Anyone over 10 years of age.
In addition to the playful context, this activity can be explored in the context of teaching in primary and secondary schools, in Science Centers and Museums, in leisure activities and summer camps.
INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions
This game can be played by 2 to 6 players. It is recommended to print the board and letters in color, on heavier paper. The cards must be cut out, and separated by type. The cards in each deck must be shuffled well before each game. To play, you must have two dice and pawns equal to the number of players.
