The National Institute for Agricultural and Veterinary Research, I. P. (INIAV) is a State Laboratory, in the area of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, that develops research activities in the agronomic and veterinary areas. INIAV's mission is to implement scientific policy and conduct research in support of public policies, in the defense of national interests and in pursuing and deepening common policies of the European Union. Among other functions, INIAV plays a central role in the promotion and conservation of national animal and plant genetic resources.
The Institute for Experimental Biology and Technology (IBET), works in a broad range of fields that encompass multidisciplinary approaches ranging from basic, technological to clinical and translational research, from the development of complex biopharmaceuticals and novel therapies to areas in food and health, including nutraceuticals development and agro-forestry.
The School of Agriculture (ISA) is, in Portugal, the largest and most qualified undergraduate and postgraduate school in Agrarian Sciences, and its know-how is recognized nationally and internationally. ISA's mission, as a university education and scientific research institution, is to carry out technology transfer processes and contribute to the sustainable development and competitiveness of the country.
The Cientific Unit LEAF - LINKING LANDSCAPE, ENVIRONMENT, AGRICULTURE AND FOOD – is committed to innovation, particularly for obtaining new economic, ecological and safe products and technologies that can be incorporated into the food supply chain, benefiting partners and society in general.
